Paul J. Dubow Esq.

Paul Dubow is an arbitrator and mediator with offices in San Francisco. He began his ADR career in 1994 and has been a full time neutral since January 2001. As of January 31, 2020, he was retained as an arbitrator in  238 cases, with 106 going to final award and nine pending. He has served as a mediator in 315 cases. He was a member of the committee that developed the employment rules for the American Arbitration Association. As director of litigation at Dean Witter Reynolds Inc (now Morgan Stanley Inc.), he tried approximately 130 arbitration cases in the securities and employment field and supervised hundreds of others. From 1991 to 2002, he served as the lone securities industry representative to the Securities Industry Conference on Arbitration, the organization that is the originator of the rules in the securities arbitration field. He also served two terms (1988-1991 and 1999-2002) on the NASD National Arbitration and Mediation Committee. He also served as vice chair and chair of the State Bar of California Task Force on Complex Litigation and was a member of the Judicial Council of California working group that promulgated the rules for mediators in court annexed mediations. About 60% of his arbitrations involve all types of employment disputes with the balance largely involving business disputes, securities, ERISA withdrawal liability and attorney malpractice. His mediation experience is more diverse. In addition to the areas covered in his arbitrations, he has mediated a substantial number of mortgage foreclosure, ADA, and other types of ERISA cases.

Paul is a fellow and board member of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and chair of its Editorial Committee. He is a past president of The Mediation Society of San Francisco and the California Dispute Resolution Council and is a former co-chair of the Arbitration Committees of the ABA Dispute Resolution and Litigation Sections. Paul is also a  former member of the board of directors of the Contra Costa County Bar Association ADR Section and a member of the ADR Committees of the California State Bar Litigation Section and Bar Association of San Francisco. He is a former member of the California State Bar Committee on Alternate Dispute Resolution.

$450 per hour plus fixed preparation time fee in mediation cases of $900 (. Normally, no charge for travel time within California but there is a charge for travel expenses. .
