BIOGRAPHICAL:I began my legal career as a staff attorney with the NC Department of Justice in September of 1969 and served there through November 1973. At the time of my departure I held the positions of Assistant Attorney General and Revisor of Statutes. From December 1973 through August of 1978 I worked with my father and uncle in the operation of a chain of thirteen supermarkets in central North Carolina. Upon the sale of that business I engaged in the solo general practice of law until being appointed District Attorney for the North Carolina counties of Randolph and Montgomery. I established that office and served there from January 1, 1979 through December 31, 1980. I then resumed my solo law practice until I was appointed to the office of Special Superior Court Judge in June of 1982. In November 1984 I was elected to the office of Senior Resident Superior Court Judge and served in that capacity until my retirement on December 31, 2004.
Since retiring from the bench I have dedicated my practice to the resolution of civil cases through mediation and arbitration.
EDUCATION:Following graduation from Asheboro High School in 1962 I entered Wake Forest College where I earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1966.
I then earned my Juris Doctor Degree from Wake Forest University in 1969 and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in August of 1969.
