Mr. Stevens is a partner and member of the executive committee at the law firm of Starr, Gern, Davison & Rubin, P.C., in Roseland, New Jersey ( He chairs the firm's Employment Department and co-chairs the firm's Alternative Dispute Resolution Department. He has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” since 2005.

Mr. Stevens is vice president of the Marie L. Garibaldi ADR Inn of Court and co-director of Programming. For several years, the Garibaldi Inn of Court has received the American Inns of Court Platinum Award of Excellence, which Mr. Stevens accepted on the Inn’s behalf at the Supreme Court of the United States in 2015. He authored, organized, and moderated an employment mediation role play for the Inn, which received the “Award of Excellence” from the American Inns of Court. Mr. Stevens served as a mediator and mentor for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for 15 years, 1999-2014. He mediates and mentors for the Superior Court of New Jersey and was selected by the N.J. Department of Banking and Insurance to mediate Superstorm Sandy insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Stevens was a director of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (, and continues to coordinate NJAPM’s Advanced Civil Training Seminar.

Mr. Stevens mediates in the areas of employment litigation, commercial/business and contract litigation, trade secret and non-competition litigation, and pharmaceutical litigation. He practices law in federal and state courts and agencies throughout the United States. He also frequently lectures in the areas of employment law and mediation.


Mr. Stevens received his law degree from Emory University School of Law, where he was president of the Student Bar Association and Honor Court Prosecutor, received the Distinguished Service Award, and was selected by the University for inclusion in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges. Mr. Stevens graduated from Duke University, where he was president of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and principal guitarist for the Duke Jazz Ensemble.

Memberships & Affiliations

Mr. Stevens is a founder and past chair of the board of directors for the New Jersey Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Inc. (, a past chair and present member of the board of directors of the Community Health Law Project (, which provides pro bono legal services for the disabled, and currently is president of the Duke Alumni Club of New Jersey, and president of the Long Hill Board of Education.
