Michael Clancy, who begins his fourth decade as a trial lawyer this year, established his mediation practice in 2006. He concentrates his mediation practice on the resolution of medical malpractice cases and complex litigation matters. Although more than half of the cases Mr. Clancy mediates are medical malpractice cases, he has helped litigants resolve a wide range of disputes including auto and truck accidents, premises liability and construction, as well as probate and real estate disputes.

Mr. Clancy received his mediation training from The Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. Mr. Clancy stayed on with CCR for about a year after his training, serving as volunteer mediator at CCR's Adams Street headquarters, the Third District Municipal Court in Rolling Meadows, and the First District Municipal Court in the Loop. During this time he mediated dozens of cases with widely varying fact patterns (including housing disputes, family law matters, business disputes, and attorney fee disputes). Mr. Clancy's process combines the facilitative and evaluative mediation approaches. He draws on his extensive experience as a litigator during the mediation process, which allows him to give real world recommendations to the parties and he fleshes out the strengths and weaknesses of their cases.

As a litigator, Mr. Clancy limits his practice to the representation of seriously injured people and their families. He has tried cases in four states in both state and federal court. He has been admitted to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts. Mr. Clancy was elected a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2009, was invited to join he American Board of Trial Advocates in 2001, and he has held an "AV" rating, the highest available, from  Martindale-Hubble for many years. He has been selected as an Illinois Super Lawyer every year since 2006 and was one of the 100 highest vote getters in the state of Illinois in 2010. He is an invited member of the Leading Lawyer Network and was selected as one of the top 100 trial lawyers in the state of Illinois for 2009-2010 by The American Trial Lawyers Association. He has been board-certified as a civil trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1995, and he has served as an examiner for the NBTA's national certification examination.

He is widely sought after as a continuing legal education lecturer, and has been invited to speak by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the United States Department of Justice, and many local bar associations.
