BIOGRAPHICAL:

Until January 1, 2014, John C. Brownrigg, was for more than 33 years a partner in Erickson | Sederstrom, P.C., L.L.O.  Since late 1995, he has served as a mediation neutral in more than 1,750 disputes, mediating over 90% of them to settlement.  He has been recognized for excellence in mediation by Best Lawyers In America, Chambers and Partners, SuperLawyers and Lawdragon.  Since retiring from Erickson | Sederstrom at the end of 2013, he has continued to offer alternative dispute resolution services, including mediation and arbitration. 

Mr. Brownrigg has successfully mediated to settlement numerous kinds of disputes in federal and state courts of Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota, including personal injury and death (auto, trucking, motorcycle and boating negligence, products liability, premises liability) claims; malpractice (medical, dental, podiatric, accounting, legal and architect/engineer) claims; construction claims; tort and contract claims against the state of Nebraska and political subdivisions; broker-dealer securities claims; insurance coverage (health, disability, etc.), fidelity, and fire and other casualty claims against insurers; banking, commercial and business (corporate and partnership dissolution, non-compete contracts, etc.) claims; wage-hours claims; will contests; age/race/gender-related employment discrimination and sexual harassment claims; Fair Housing Act claims; Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) claims; and commercial and residential real estate (landlord-tenant, sale, boundary and use) claims.  He has also rendered binding decisions in arbitration proceedings involving numerous kinds of disputes, including personal injury (auto, trucking, premises liability) claims; construction and real estate inspection claims; agreements between telecommunications carriers under the Federal Telecommunications Act; commercial and business claims; governmental employee (State of Nebraska) disciplinary matters; and casualty claims against insurers.

Mr. Brownrigg has for most of his career been active in numerous law-related and civic organizations, including service as president of the Omaha Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association, and Legal Aid Society, Inc. (now Legal Aid of Nebraska).

ADR TRAINING:

20 hours of training in 1994 by Dispute Management Resources, Inc., of Seattle, WA (sponsored by Midwest Arbitration and Mediation, Inc., an affiliate of United States Arbitration & Mediation); 30 hours of basic training in 1994 by Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution (sponsored by the Omaha Bar Association); 16 hours of training in 1995 by CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution (required for membership on mediation panel of U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska); 30 hours of training in 2010 in Family Mediation; and participation, often as a member of the faculty, in various seminars and other programs sponsored by the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys, Nebraska Continuing Legal Education, Inc., the Omaha Bar Association, and the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.

$250/hour for preparation and session time. No minimum. No charge for travel time or mileage within 150 mile radius of Omaha, NE. No administrative or cancellation fees.
