BIOGRAPHICAL:

Douglas Sands has been engaged in private practice of law in Stuart, Martin County, Florida since 1973. He has represented individual, corporate and governmental clients before administrative agencies, trial and appellate courts including Florida s Fourth District Court of Appeal and Florida s Supreme Court.  Transactional legal practice has included estate planning, probate administration, real estate, landlord-tenant, business, individual and corporate matters. 

Doug has been mediating cases since 1989, and has mediated over 1000 disputes over this time. This has included a wide range of disputes, including personal injury and wrongful death, contracts, construction defects, will contests, community association conflicts, landlord-tenant, dissolution of marriage and child custody, employment, foreclosure, real estate, collections, business partnerships, etc.

Career highlights include:

  • Qualified Florida court arbitrator; served as a commercial arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association
  • Board of Zoning Adjustment Attorney, Town of Sewall s Point, Florida, 30 years
  • School Board Attorney, School Board of Martin County, Florida, 18 years
  • Adjunct Professor of Economics, Florida Institute of Technology Graduate School, Jensen Beach campus, 12 years
  • Systems Engineer and Senior Management Information Analyst at Kennedy Space Center, Florida.  Member, launch team for Apollo 11, mankind s first successful Moon landing on July 19, 1969.
  • U.S. Naval Officer -  Vietnam Veteran.
