BIOGRAPHICAL:In 1973, Mr. Ferguson was associated with Robert F. Nunez, a former federal prosecutor
and lead trial counsel for General Motors in the first Corvair case tried in the United States,
Anderson v. General Motors. Mr. Nunez enjoyed a robust insurance and products liability
defense practice, thoughtfully including Mr. Ferguson in defense of actions brought against
national insurers and manufacturers.
Mr. Ferguson then joined the firm which ultimately became Riden, Earle & Kiefner, P.A. in
which he was a partner for many years. In his civil practice, Mr. Ferguson has engaged in
extensive insurance, tort and business litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts.
Mr. Ferguson was lead trial counsel in Roberts v. J.C. Penney, Inc., 221 F.3d 1356 (C.A.
11 2000), City of Treasure Island v. Provident Management Corporation, 611 So. 2d 1285
(Fla. 2d DCA 1992) and Schorb v. Schorb, 547 So. 2d 985 (Fla. 2d DCA 1989); co-trial
counsel for the Plaintiff in John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company v. Zalay, 581 So.
2d 178 (Fla. 2d DCA 1991); assistant trial counsel and assistant appellate counsel in
Sterling Drug, Inc. v. Wright, 342 So. 2d 503 (Fla. 1977) and Edwards v. Ford, 279 So. 2d
851 (Fla. 1973).
Mr. Ferguson is admitted to practice law in all Florida state and appellate courts, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida and the Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit,
in the federal forum.
Mr. Ferguson has been a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator since 1996,
participating in cases pending principally in the Sixth Judicial Circuit.
EDUCATION:Mr. Ferguson received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies at the University
of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1969 and was awarded his Juris Doctorate
Degree from Stetson College of Law in1973. He is an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg
College.
