BIOGRAPHICAL:

CHARLES COOK HOWELL, III was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1941. He attended the Bolles School, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with an A.B. degree in 1963, and received his law degree from the University of Florida College of Lawin 1966, where he served on the Board of Editors of the University of Florida Law Review. He has practiced law in Jacksonville for more than 35 years. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education. He is also a Florida Supreme Court certified circuit court mediator, and is a Supreme Court qualified court appointed arbitrator.

He has served as a member of the Board of Governors (1974-1976) and chairman (1985-1986) and co-chairman (1989-1990) of the Trial Section of the Jacksonville Bar Association. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocacy (Advocate), the Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, and the Jacksonville Association of Defense Counsel. He is AV peer review rated by Martindale-Hubbell. His primary areas of practice have included civil trial and appellate practice, limited primarily to complex commercial litigation, professional liability, medical malpractice, products liability, insurance coverage and defense, and personal injury and wrongful death, and over the past the past twelve years, he has mediated cases in all of these areas. He is currently employed as in-house Corporate Counsel for the Scott-McRae Group.
