Beverly Baker has practiced in the area of employment law – counseling and litigation for 30 years.  As an advocate, mediator, and arbitrator, she has handled hundreds statutory and common law claims of wrongful termination and promotion cases, discrimination claims (age, race, gender, disability, etc.), promotion, hiring, demotion, constructive discharge, retaliation, wage and hour disputes and racial  and sexual harassment claims. 

 She also has handled corporate disputes of all types, including partnership, breach of contact, non-compete, and consumer matters;  

She has conducted internal investigations, and negotiated employment-related agreements, such as non-compete covenants, confidentiality agreements and severance agreements to comply with state and federal employment laws. Ms. Baker conducts on-site employee and management training on diversity and other employment issues affecting the workplace.

Beverly has represented the Resolution Trust Corporation and subsequently several regional banks on a range of issues including executive compensation and termination,. 

 For four years,she was  the City Prosecutor for the City of Hoover, Alabama. 

 After over twenty-five  years practicing with major law firms, the last eight years with the national firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash & Stewart, she is now working as a neutral; handling only mediation and arbitration in association with Debra Leo, formerly head of the EEOC Mediation Unit with the U. S. EEOC.,

Ms. Baker also regularly serves as a mediator and arbitrator on the employment and commercial and consumer panels of the American Arbitration Association and has Chaired three member panels. She is also on the commercial and employment panels of Resolute Systems, and National Arbitration Mediation, The Alliance at Cornell University, the Alabama State Bar Association, the Alabama Center for Dispute Resolution, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

She has been certified by the Alabama State Bar Association as a Mediator, an Appellate Mediator, and has successfully mediated 100's of commercial and employment related matters.  Since 2002,in addition to employment matters, she has mediated  and arbitrated a wide range of disputes, from mobile home defects, warranty disputes, to healthcare related issues and consumer fraud. 

In addition to numerous  presentations to client groups, membership organizations, and in-house presentations, Beverly has been a presenter at the past two TAPS programs sponsored by the EEOC, NLRB, OFCCP, and DOL in Alabama and Mississippi.  Most recently she presented a program sponsored by the EEOC, on The Changing Definitions of Race, Gender, Religion, National Origin and Color,  in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the CRA.   This presentation is currently being prepared for publication.

Mediation - $350.00 per hour with a four hour minimum charge. There is a cancellation fee of $1,000 for a cancellation less than five days of a scheduled mediation. The rate for multiple parties varies; No hourly fees charged for travel, hotel, meals - expenses only. Unused portion of per diem refunded. Additional information contained in Engagement Agreement. Negotiated rate for governmental entities and good cause. Arbitration -Hearing -$ 375.00 per hour with a minimum three hour charge for one half-day or less, unless otherwise agreed. Minimum charge of $1,500 for hearings cancelled with less than two weeks notice prior to the hearing date. $300.00 per hour charge for study time, discovery disputes, drafting awards, and all other necessary time spent on the matter.. No hourly charge for travel, hotel, or meals, expenses only. Additional information contained in Engagement Agreement
